Activities For Preschool Toddlers

So your baby is now on the move and fascinated by everything.  Suddenly the toys are not so interesting, what activities for preschool should you try?  This is a great stage for both parents and toddlers, but it can be quite a lifestyle change as your toddler wants more and more to join in your daily life.

There are basically two types of activities for preschool toddlers, those which are specifically designed for them and those which are based around how we live and the chores we need to complete.  If you are just starting to plan activities for preschool toddlers, don’t get too ambitious, this is a learning curve for both of you.  As a parent this is when you go through one of the greatest changes, and it is also your opportunity to include your toddler in family life.

Activities for preschool exist all around the home; your toddler has probably been watching you cook for him or her for quite a while.  Perhaps you have tried buying Play-Doh from a shop and found that most of it ends up in the carpet and then decided that you don’t want to repeat this activity?  Well, here’s one of the simplest activities for preschool toddlers, measure out the ingredients for making your own Play-Doh, then let you toddler put them all in a bowl and stir until their hearts content.  While your toddler is happy stirring you can take to opportunity of cooking the supper.  He will think that you are working together and will be quite happy, once you have your food in the oven, you can take his Play-Doh mixture and put it on the cooker to heat.  Since this only takes a few minuets he will be able to see his results almost immediately.  If your toddler does not want to play with the Play-Doh now, you can put it in a bag (carefully removing the air) and pop it in the fridge, it will last for a couple of days like this. When doing activities for preschool it is important to talk to them all the way through so they can proudly tell people what they have done, and if they want to do the activities another day they will be able to tell you which one.

There is nothing harder than trying to clean the house with a toddler yapping at you to come and play, here is another of the activities for preschool which can be incorporated into your housework – window cleaning!  All you will need is a bottle with a squirting top, put in a little bit of washing up liquid and some water – it is best to only fill the bottle a couple of inches at the bottom (or you may find that you have large puddles of water to clear up!).  Then give you toddler a tea towel and let them squirt and wipe.  This is a totally harmless mixture which is easy to clean up after your toddler has finished and it will help to teach him/her about some of the jobs which need to be done.

There are so many toys out there for your toddler, but helping mummy or daddy is often the most popular of activities for preschool – involve them, they will love it.
