So your child or toddler has just discovered Ben 10, and you are not quite sure what they are talking about … Here is your guide to the Ben 10 characters and your lifeline to understanding the latest obsession.
Benjamin Tennyson
The most important of the Ben 10 characters is of course Ben himself. Ben is a ten year old boy who finds the Omnitrix (looks like a watch which has alien powers). The Omnitrix allows Ben to take on alien life forms and to battle to save the planet. This means that Ben is more like an umbrella for a whole assortment of Ben 10 characters which have different powers and looks.
Four Arms
Four arms is one of the Ben 10 characters which Ben can transform into with the Omnitrix. As the name suggests this character has four arms, which are bright red. Four Arms is super strong and the character which Ben chooses for the big fights and he is twelve feet tall and strong, with a protective skin which protects Ben from his attackers.
Stinkfly
This amazing flyer is able to whizz around and has pincer like hands which he can use in battle to protect himself from alien attacks, as strange looking Ben 10 characters go, this one is towards the top of the class.
RipJaw
This is one of the more versatile Ben 10 characters, he is a great swimmer and can transform his legs and feet into a tail and fins, hence can be useful both on land and in the water. As the name suggests he has a powerful jaw which he uses in battle, this with his claws forms a formidable hero.
XLR8
The XLR8s main asset is his speed, not just your average runner; his speed allows him to cross over any surface, including vertical ones.
Heatblast
This Ben 10 character has a more human looking form, but is on fire. He can throw fire ball and can also absorb fire, hence he can both start and put out fires.
WildMutt
This is a bizarre looking animal which has great physical ability, but also an amazing sense of smell, taste and hearing. This Ben 10 characters weapon is to fire spikes from his neck.
DiamonHead
Diamonhead is harder than diamonds and therefore can withstand most attacks and can cut through any substances he is presented with. His weapon is to throw diamond type shards.
Ghostfreak
Most Ben 10 characters fight, ghostfreak is more about scaring. His lack of substance means that he can travel through walls, but his fighting powers are limited.
Grey Matter
As the smallest of the Ben10 characters, grey matter is about thinking this way around problems. When Ben becomes grey matter he can work machinery and fix, adjust electrical equipment.
Upgrade
This is a sort of living machine, rather hard to get ones head around. The alien is made out of a material which allows him to merge with any piece of equipment and then to enhance the machines original features.
Cannonbolt
A funny looking alien that has short arms, which appear to be fairly useless. This Ben 10 characters power is in his ability to destroy. He curls up in a ball and can basically destroy anything in his way.
Wildvine
As a plant, this alien is most effective with sun light and his weapon is his ability to root himself to the ground while using tentacles to reach out and grab his attackers.
Upchuck
Of the Ben 10 characters this has the strangest means of attack, he can eat anything and then spit it out with great speed and accuracy!
Eye Guy
As with all the Ben 10 characters the clue is in the name, he is covered with eyes (except on his face) and he is able to fire energy balls from his chest.
Way Big
This is bens largest character – 100 feet tall! Not only is he large, but he is hugely strong and powerful.
Gwen Tennyson
As will all super action heroes there has to be a voice of reason somewhere. Ben has it in the form of his cousin Gwen; she is the calm voice of logic and reason while Ben is the fighter who lurches in, often without much planning.
Grandpa
Finally there is grandpa. This character in the Ben 10 world is an important grounding force for both Gwen and Ben, he is always there to offer help and support and he is the big lovable character who everyone wants to look after.
