Free Toddlers Games

can be hard work.  It is a fabulous age, but it is hard for the parents, have so much energy and they want to play all the time.  Much of child care at this age seems to be about managing the stimulus and teaching children to play and socialize.  This is why free toddler games are great for development as well as fun.

Outdoor Free Toddler Games.

Kicking a ball around is the easiest and most obvious of free toddler games, but one day they just start to need more.  Here is the best of all free toddler games for when you are in the park or any outside space – What’s The Time Mr Wolf?  Many of you will have played this as child, for those of you who did not (or have forgotten how it goes) here are the basics.  Initially you will need at least two adults to help.  One child will start by being the wolf and the others will stand about fifteen foot away holding hands (with the other adult in the middle of the line to offer help when needed).  One adult will need to hold the wolf's hand until they get the hang of the game.  The wolf will stand with his back to the line of children.  The children will call out ‘Whats the time Mr Wolf?’  and the wolf will answer ‘It’s *** o’clock’  fill in the blank with any number between 1 and 12.  The line of children will then have to take that number of steps towards the wolf.  After a couple of time the wolf will say ‘Its dinner time’ and will have to try to catch one of the children as they all scatter.  The caught child will become the wolf on the next go and the game goes on.

Indoor Free Toddler Games

We have all played Eye Spy as a child, but for some reason this seems hard for a toddler to get their heads around.  I found that my toddler would choose something he couldn’t see, but could imagine.  (He also spent the first 4 months always choosing the same thing!)  So we created the game ‘Who am I?’ This is a corruption of Eye Spy, Twenty Questions and Animal/Vegetable/Mineral.  Basically your toddler can be anything they can think of and you have to guess.  As are still understanding about games expect it to take a while before they can play properly, but they will be pretty quick at guessing who you are.  Hide and seek is another of the classic free toddler games.  Just as your toddler will have a favorite word for word games, they will have a favorite place to hide as well – in fact for the first couple of months you can pretty much guarantee that they will rarely go beyond their two favorite places.

Free Toddler Games For Bath time

Bath time should be fun, but sometimes it can just seem like hard work.  The bath is actually a great place for simple, free toddler games.  For the easiest you will need a plastic cup or bottle, straw and some bubble bath.  Once your toddler is in the bath fill the cup with some bath water, add a little bubble bath and then get your toddler to blow until there are bubbles and they start to overflow.  Scoop out the bubbles and place them carefully in the bath, then blow some more.  This is a great way to keep your toddler busy and happy in the bath.  If your toddler does not like to get their heads wet, you can also try to get them to stick the bubbles to their heads and before you know it your toddler will be soaked.

The best free toddler games are about limiting the stimulus and harnessing the child's imagination and energy during the time.  Most of these simple, free toddler games have stood the test of time because they are good for the child's development as well and fun.
