Playing Ben 10 Heroes

Child development specialists all tell us how important it is to roll play and imaginary play with our children.  Sometimes this is easy, pretend tigers in the park, swapping roles between mummy and toddler, and many more.   Sometimes your child will want to roll play from either a book or a television program (even the best have to resort to the electric nanny occasionally).  The problem with television is that they know so much more about the plots than we do, then when we try to play, we are constantly corrected and advised that our character ‘never does that’, or ‘silly mummy, of course he can fly’!

The Current Popularity Of Ben 10 Heroes.

The big cartoon fad for the moment is Ben 10 and the many Ben 10 heroes which Ben can call on when needed.  These are all great for imaginary play, but you need to find some way to call on the many Ben 10 heroes.  You can of course go to a shop and buy an Omnitrix watch, or you can simply use the inner cardboard of a toilet roll.  This is the perfect size for a toddler's wrist and you can either pretend to have buttons, or use stickers.  If you go for a make your own omnitrix, you can add extra heroes, ones which tidy up super fast, and ones which eat all their vegetables.  The whole thing can be a spring board for many hours of play.

Create Your Own Ben 10 Heroes

If you are not familiar with the Ben 10 heroes, a simple explanation is that each character has a descriptive name, a distinctive appearance, and each one has some sort of super power, for example Diamond Head has tough skin and can throw glass shards and refract light and energy.  If you want to have your own Ben 10 heroes they could look like a carrot, eat all their vegetables, … One of the rather fun aspects of the Ben 10 heroes is that his heroes all have names which relate to either their appearance, skills or weapons.   Some are more obvious than others, eye guy is covered in eyes, and Upchuck – well, every mother has experienced this one!  So is you are going to create your own Ben 10 heroes remember to think up some fun names for them.

If you want to extend the project you can then always add arts and craft activities of making the alien heroes.  Since the range of Ben 10 heroes is so large (before you add your own) you are bound to find one which will capture your toddler's imagination.  Just try to avoid Upchuck as their favourite that is bound to prove a nightmare the next time they visit Granny and Grandpa and explain who their latest hero is!  But won’t Granny be impressed when one of their favourite Ben 10 heroes is a tidy up hero, or a whisper only hero!
