Songs for can be found in all sorts of places. In Peter Pan there is a great song called ‘following the leader’. If your toddler wants to go somewhere you don’t then you suggest to them that you lead them to the area while singing the song. This means that you can get them there in a calm, controlled state, and then if the area is unsuitable you can explain to the toddler and then continue singing and marching on to the next spot. Using songs for like this means that your toddler gets to go where they want, and you get to control the approach and the removal from said place. This is about monkeys swinging in a tree teasing Mr Crocodile. It is a useful song as the children get to be monkeys and call out ‘you can’t catch me’ while an adult becomes the crocodile and chases them.
